Russian River // September 12th 2024

Healdsburg Memorial Beach to Burke's // 9 miles // 5 hrs

Parked in Healdsburg and put in just under the Dam at Memorial Park. The first couple of hours we moved at a fairly brisk pace.

It was nice to see so many hawks in the sky and to have perfect weather.

It started heating up around noon and the river widened and slowed quite a bit so we stopped and had a good swim. At some point we had to portage around another dam.

While we paddled we scared a Blue Heron that we would catch up with every few hundred feet and it would fly off again. It was nice to say hello every so often and to have it guide us the rest of the length of the days journey. We took out at Burke's and they were kind enough to let us bring the car in and load up.
